#BeYarnExpert 🧶
What is yarn weight?

 YARN WEIGHT= YARN THICKNESS
Key Point: Yarn weight gives an idea of how thick the yarn is. Yarn weight is mentioned in the label of the yarn.

The different yarn weights are given below:
1. Lace (0): Very thin, for lace patterns, doilies, and baby items.
2. Super Fine (1): Thin, for baby clothes, socks, and lacy projects. Also called fingering.
3. Fine (2): Light yarn, good for garments, accessories, and home decor. Also called Sport.
4. Light (3): Medium light, for sweaters, hats, and scarves, home decor, toys, mittens, etc. Also called DK (stands for double knit).
5. Medium (4): Medium thickness, for sweaters, garments, accessories, and home decor. Also known as Worsted.
6. Bulky (5): thick, for quick projects, warm garments, and home decor. Also called chunky yarns.
7. Super Bulky (6): Very thick, for fast, warm projects like hats, scarves, and blankets.
8. Jumbo (7): Jumbo are the newest category yarns. Very popular. These are for oversized projects.

Key points to remember:
➡️ Yarn weight = Yarn thickness
➡️ If the yarn weight (मोटाई) of two yarns is the same, then we can use the same size hook for both. (most of the time, with some exceptions).
Eg., we use the same hook for Olivia and Taj Mahal. Both have yarn weight = 3.

➡️To make crochet loose, use 1-2 size bigger hooks than suggested.
➡️To make crochet tight, use a 1-2 size smaller hook than suggested.
